Project management offices (pmo's)

Improving project success rates is the reason to establish a project management office (PMO). Recognising this, PMWorks has pioneered a process for designing, implementing and refining the practices and structure of PMOs whichever level of the organisation they occupy (Enterprise, Divisional, Departmental, etc).

Each office has the ability to deliver benefit, however, given the diversity of potential roles it is important to ensure that an appropriate range and sufficient level of services, yet no more than necessary, are offered.

Establishing PMOs

We work with our clients to determine the requirements for a PMO. We then define what their target “fit for purpose” PMO looks like and develop a road map that shows how to achieve it. Where possible the road map is enhanced through identification of quick win initiatives to provide the organisation with immediate payback. As required, PMWorks can assist with the implementation of specific roadmap initiatives.

Outsourced PMOs

This enables our clients to transfer the risks of operating a PMO to PMWorks. Our consultants work with you to determine the framework for the PMO which will generally include:

  • PMO Standards
  • Project Schedules
  • Technology
  • Project KPIs and other control metrics
  • Reports

Once the framework has been agreed, a processing schedule is established on an agreed basis. All project data is sent to PMWorks and using our technology and Project Management resources we generate and deliver all the required project control reports to the client.

This service is delivered under an agreed Service Level Agreement which includes an assigned Project Manager to support the process and to provide continued on site assistance.
